Which tales games are multiplayer
As usual, only one player controls the leader on the map or in the field, but up to 4 players can play co-op on the battle screens. Players can play two-player co-op nearly from the start of the game. Just like the last several Tales games, however, ToZ plays best in two-player co-op. Much of this revolves around the aforementioned Armatization mechanic.
Since the human and Seraphim character literally fuse together, only one player can control this combined character which leaves the other player with nothing to do at all. The game makes it very easy to swap different Seraphim in and out of the party. Eternia is pretty decent, but do be warned that it gets really dumb at the end of the game the final boss and most of the optional endgame stuff are designed to be beaten by abusable stuff like Elemental Master, not conventional gameplay.
Graces f is the best. The combat engine is amazing to start, and adding in more humans only gives you more freedom in how you play. Xillia is pretty good if you have exactly two people, but the link system doesn't work well with 3 or 4 so if you have those larger groups definitely avoid it.
Xillia's difficulty also completely disappears about halfway through the game, far more severe than Symphonia if you were thinking of that comparison.
It's still a good game though and a decent choice for multiplayer. User Info: MrQuotes. Of all of the shortcomings of Graces, the multiplayer accessibility is by far the best of the last 3 Tales games. I can't waste my time with scum who can only laugh in a fight where he's sure to win.

I liked that the multiplayer was pretty much confined to the battles as that meant one player could essentially be the "driver" and the other could be more of an assist during the action but still feel like they mattered.

My brother and I co-oped on nearly every Tales game, it was quite fun with two people. Oct 27, 1, Not an issue for me, but I feel sorry for those that were expecting it and had fun with it in the past. Turin Member. Oct 25, 69, Fine by me, well, if I end up getting this anyways.
It is a shame though given that it was a staple for so many years. I never became a Tales fan, but I had played a good chunk of Tales of Symphonia way back when, and I remember it being a great experience being able to play my friend's copy alongside him. Don't care these days, but yeah that is a big departure for Tales of. I'd be interested to see if Bamco had any statistic on it. I have a feeling it was an exceedingly small number of players who ever actually utilized Co-op regularly.
I remember doing so with Symphonia and Vesperia with friends in high school a little bit. It wasn't perfect but it was a nice change in pace compared to just sitting and watching someone else play like we often did with stuff like FF and what not, at best trading off control. But even then it was still a pretty marginal part, we didn't play the entire game together, most of it was still played solo.
Nov 28, Man made a dealbreaker for something he never used LMAO. The game looks great regardless for me personally can't wait to play. Icebergslim Member. Feb 19, GamerJM Member. Nov 8, 9, I never played these games in multiplayer but it always seemed like a really fun experience, probably only viable if you live with someone who also plays games since regularly getting together with someone to tackle a big JRPG sounds annoying, but still.
I assume you'd switch off doing the out-of-battle stuff. Oct 26, 3, People acting surprised other people used and liked a feature available across multiple titles of the same licence. Are people still stuck 10 years in the past where they thought coop was killing single player games because of re5?
