The whole "Kill Paarthurnax" quest is, to me, a staple of "how to rush a game". You have no choice, you have to kill him. The other option you have, is to never finish the quest and keep him alive. Which you actually should the first time around if you want to see something cool latter on.

It feels as thought the devs simply rushed passed this and instead of giving you the opportunity to get rid of the quest in your questlog, they simply didn't do anything and left it there. Would, to me, make the game feel less rushed. It's a matter of opinion and choice. If you do kill Paarthurnax, the Greybeards will no longer accept you among them, but if you don't kill him, the Blades won't allow you to be one of them either, but the Greybeards will still be humble to you. User Info: udoma udoma 9 years ago 2 The blades won't work with you unless you kill Paarthurnax, and they actually have unique-ish Radiant quests to offer you, as opposed to the Greybeards who only really offer random quests to go get dragon words and the blades do that too , so I'd choose Esbern if I were you.
